Unfortunately, yes, at the moment. I built a great house and at the same time have been living in a work shared flat 5 days a week for about 6 months, in a standard just above a youth hostel, 500 km away, with 4 dinners out per week. Work is good and meaningful. So what. Other times will come again.

But what does local mean to you?
If you, for example, as Bavarians, buy a kitchen from Westphalia, that is local, but as Brandenburgers at Ikea it is not?
Ikea builds, for example, among other places, in Saxony (whether currently Metod, I don’t know).
Or is this now one of those German money for German craftsmanship stories?
Why not think European?
If you really mean the local craftsman, most people would have to buy from the local carpenter and not from Nolte or Nobilia. But then we are talking very quickly about 30-40 thousand euros instead of 10-20.
So then I shouldn’t be allowed to buy a kitchen, very interesting.
And guess where the carpenter gets the particle boards for the locally made kitchen?
At least in the northeastern corner of Germany, quite certainly also in Poland.
Society nowadays is simply more than just the village I live in.

We deliberately chose a Häcker kitchen.

Why?

The kitchen studio we visited was a huge hit with us and they exclusively sell Häcker. Because they are simply produced just two towns away...

Häcker also offers a "cheaper" line. It is "only" slightly more expensive than Ikea, but I still think it is of better quality.

And what do you do with your demands and services, do you arrogantly exclude yourself from them?

Either you live in a community and accept the local price level. "Cheap" buying elsewhere, in my opinion, is ultimately tendentially foolish and short-sighted.

I absolutely do not exclude myself from that. I work in an industry that has become so bloated and sluggish that we are far from effective. Only the establishment saves us, and that is exactly what prevents renewal and improvement. And eventually the backlog becomes so large that one wonders why we were ever able to keep up, and then the entire industry collapses with a big bang.

For me, innovation and creativity are the virtues of the German economy. Protectionism is rarely helpful in this regard.

And I grew up in a world in which the EU has always existed. At least the Pole belongs to my community. And I also count the American or Chinese as part of my community.

And finally: you write "cheap" buying elsewhere. I think exactly the quotation marks are the point of discussion.
If one buys cheaply elsewhere, meaning poor quality, I would not consider that smart either.
Buying cheaply elsewhere because it is simply produced more efficiently I find very smart. (Of course, this position ignores exploitation and poor working conditions, I am aware of that)
