Excessive costs for the kitchen?!

These price differences also exist with other countries, I live near the Dutch border (near Aachen). When I moved here, I wanted a sofa bed from Ikea. There was about a €250 difference between Germany and the Netherlands. It also happens the other way around, but for example also with small items. The very popular Gladelig dishes' cups cost €2.49 (now €3.49) in the Netherlands until recently and €4.99 in Germany. But as I said, you can also find products that are sometimes significantly cheaper in Germany.

Some newspaper or website once did an EU comparison of IKEA prices. You can find it quite easily via Google. Greece (of all places) was the most expensive. Germany was in the lower middle range and Poland the cheapest. Nevertheless, electronics are not available at all in Poland, and as mentioned, the carcasses are only slightly cheaper... The fact that some things are like this in the Netherlands makes sense, for products that are manufactured in Germany. These should then be cheaper or at least the same price. Everything else is usually cheaper in countries with slightly lower average incomes or different purchasing behaviors (some cultures traditionally spend less on furniture, etc).

If I may hijack the thread about kitchens here:

my parents had a massive water damage spanning three floors and are currently still busy with drying work. Since their kitchen was also heavily affected, they need a new one.

Now I heard from an acquaintance that delivery times are currently outrageous, with waiting times of over a year. Can you confirm this or are there any tricks to get a functional kitchen again on short notice?

No idea how it is with the kitchen studios. At IKEA you get most things. Only dishwashers are really scarce. There was a rumor that they are being bought up by car manufacturers because there is some control chip inside that they need and which also has delivery times beyond good and evil and can only be obtained on the spot market in small quantities at 10-20 times the price.

We ordered our kitchen in January, it was assembled in June.

The cooktop, the oven, and the extractor hood are missing.

At first, they said the dishwasher wouldn't arrive. But it did…

After ordering food for a week, we bought a single cooktop.

The kitchen studio's statement: it will probably take at least another 3 months until the missing appliances arrive. Now we have received a loan cooktop.

Switching to other devices is also not possible.

Therefore, my recommendation would be to buy the electrical appliances from a specialist dealer if they are available there and store them until the kitchen arrives.
