Well, I went down to about a ~39° roof pitch. The usable area should still be larger.
here is the 2m line, which are always just estimates. I don’t know the roof structure of your general contractor.

Yes, please don’t take it too seriously. Slowly it’s turning into a bit of a game for me as well.

However, you should keep an eye on the dimensions (especially the length). Yours seems to have been shortened too much. Just as a reminder, the area is 3.95m x 1.30m. The kitchen dimensions are also not correct. The cooking island should be 1.20m away from the kitchen unit – as a guideline.

Yes, once you start fiddling around, making a decision becomes more and more difficult.

The idea might also be to completely omit the bay window and instead maybe allow the house depth to be about 50 cm more in total. That should actually be almost cost-neutral.

If you want to place the dining table so it can be accessed lengthwise, then the width of the dining/cooking area should be at least 650 cm so that you don’t get in each other's way with every seat at the table.

Sometimes the best things come from that. It's definitely very good for brainstorming. If my wife says that it's out of the question for her, then we've already taken a step forward. If we can't decide that way, then by process of elimination.

Yes, I just made a quick note in Excel once to show my wife how I imagine it. I wanted to keep the effort low so it wouldn't hurt so much if the version got rejected. Since it was quite well received, it will be recreated in Sweethome tonight.

Yes, I've played around a lot the past few days. We are currently going two ways:

1. Our previous layout (which we both like, except for the mentioned flaws) and adjust it as far as we can live with the compromises.
-> your version already comes very close to that. Of course the co

2. Play with new ideas from the input in this thread and see if something better comes out than option 1.

I’ve already thought about leaving out the bay window entirely as well. We’ll have to see. Tonight I have a bit of time to work on that.

It’s actually quite usable. The only disadvantage of the central staircase: I lose quite a bit of space in the attic that I end up "wasting" as a hallway. Maybe our floor plan (with your optimizations) could also be built as a two-story? Or would that not work out with the staircase?

... have to get something off my chest ... this is a thread that’s fun because you can tell that ideas and suggestions are working in you and you all are slowly reaching your optimum after all.

What then becomes the hallway can be somewhat lounge-like, one room more of a storage closet and the other the hobby room.
