source catastrophe!

Just take a look yourself: everything is distorted there. What did you do???
I didn’t sit down and draw, but (according to my suggestion and thinking) the draft should have come out completely without slanted walls.
And I am sure that NO ONE meant THAT.

Yes, I see it. My first change, where I swapped the kitchen and the living room, had straight walls. But that version didn't go over well with my wife. Well, now we have an example of how not to do it. ^^ that's something at least. I'm making an appointment with the architect today. I'll bring up all the points: - straight staircase - possibility to get from the hallway into the kitchen - children's room in the south - raised knee wall Then he can be creative. I'm probably not creative enough or just have no feeling for it. Or I rushed it.

At knee wall 130, there will be a window for the children's room in the middle, but it is not very practical, or there will be a knee wall roof window.

Why does the kitchen have to be on the left side of the plan? Maybe your wife can try to explain that in words. I always find that helpful when I "have to" do something like this, because often I realize myself that my reasons are somehow pseudo or don't really fit.

I like to compare when there is already a better basis.

The kitchen in your variant with the dining table works just barely because the peninsula is only 60 cm deep. The entire area of the two doors to the open space with the area around the fireplace is mainly walkway space now.
With Kaho’s solution, one could still consider placing the fireplace more centrally, but then on the upper floor one would land in the bathroom. Since originally no landing stairs were planned (and also in the current design there is not enough space), Kaho’s 250 cm-long stair exit could also be shorter, and one would have some room with the door to children’s room 1, and the chimney shaft might possibly be behind the door there.

Kaho’s kitchen solution can also be quite well imagined with a 250 cm long table, but rotated and with a bench solution at the island.

Katja’s angled corner to the office could also still be removed or left to ensure the originally desired effect of "being involved." In your planning, the office could just as well have a door.

Definitely better .. the closet solution and sleeping, as you can get from the bed to the closet and then out. Also, all children’s rooms have the possibility to get a normal window, even without a dormer, bay window, etc.

What you should think about carefully is the wastewater routing in Katja’s bathroom. But with good planning, it should be possible to move this towards the dining room corner at the bottom left, and well insulated that is no problem in terms of noise.

By straight stairs I mean that you go straight into the hallway upstairs and don’t run into the slanted wall. That was poorly worded

I have a meeting now, I can only respond to your post later after I’ve read everything

Thank you very much for the detailed answer!

Sorry if I made it worse than before no idea what was going on in my head. We were just frustrated in the evening. I see the issues mentioned now too ^^

if we shift the extension so that at least one window of it is in the middle children's room, that would be okay.

That will be the case and I think it’s just a matter of feeling. I will bring it up again today.

I personally also like the design by very much, my wife is skeptical. She thinks the dining table should go into the extension.

maybe like this?
under the sloping staircase (clad) one could maybe nicely place the fireplace. In the kitchen there would be space to put the table lengthwise. No more slants inside either. The smaller office would be enough for us. In return, the living room would be a bit bigger. Instead of the wall where the TV is, you could also put a large bookshelf.
I just quickly used Excel for now. Took the old floor plan as background and traced over it. Proportions should be okay so far.

Could one continue with it like this or is it a disaster again?

I will think about the upper floor after breakfast. I will then respond separately to that.
