What else could be done: Mirror the stairs on the ground floor, move the kitchen and dining area upwards, and extend the porch a little to compensate for the shift. Then at least all the criticism points on the upper floor would be eliminated. Stairs would be stacked, the hallway straight, and the storage room larger. I have to brainstorm with my wife about "swapping kitchen and living room."I would then change the direction of travel. Regarding the living room: I would not see it as a disadvantage that a few square meters are lost in the new living area. The utility room gains real storage space. On the upper floor: The already not very suitable corner for the wardrobe disappears, instead new and larger storage space is generated on the upper floor because the stairs can be stacked. You just have to draw it and let it sink in. I'll put it this way: it is tangled up upstairs, and downstairs I would personally do everything to get out of the non-private living room situation.
