The HAR is 2.90 x 3.30 = 9.5m². At the moment, it is designed for aesthetics - the front door is all symmetrical under the captain's gable. You could gain a few centimeters by foregoing a side panel at the front door. Then I would recommend a front door with a large glazed section - possibly with a transom window. Then it would be 10m². You could also put a door under the stairs as a kind of built-in cupboard for brooms and such.

Yes, we already removed the glass panels for cost reasons (I think I mentioned that here before). We would probably go for practicality rather than aesthetics. But I leave achieving that up to the architect ^^ You have definitely helped us a lot!

The idea of the broom closet is good!

But they also want to put a frozen pizza in the oven sometimes...

Quote woman: then they just come by the living room shortly, they are my children and not strangers ^^ And kids' friends don't make frozen pizza by themselves at our place.

What else can I say? ^^ Apart from that: the two of us aren't really into watching TV or gaming on the couch. Meaning: it really rarely happens that we sit on the couch and watch TV.

With kids, you might sit in front of the TV more often, that can happen, but then they also don’t have visitors who could disturb.

As I said, I can understand all the arguments and I am still working on finding a ground floor layout or will have the architect work on finding a good compromise. The plan from with the passage to the kitchen is already a good compromise. We will work on optimizing that.

Either I am out of touch here or the future builders are
Didn't you once take over the kitchen with your friends on a Saturday evening?
Or late at night after the disco? Friends aren’t always exactly accompanied to the bathroom or the fridge then either...

The answer may be of a philosophical nature ^^

Sure, and here is one of the disadvantages of an open living/kitchen concept. Does it even make a difference if the kids have to pass through the living area to get to the kitchen when they’re making noise in there anyway?

And as long as they cook something for me, I’m lenient
