I can’t even tell you, I’ve gotten used to it being harder, pliers were definitely overkill but nothing happens there with wet hands.

My induction cooktop blew again. I had repaired it once before, but now I don’t want to anymore. (soviel zum Thema Marke, AEG)

Now I’m just thinking about what to buy. My favorite at the moment is the Siemens EX975LVC1E. 5 cooking zones, lots of space, some nice features, and above all: 11kW power rating.

However, that also means I have to adjust the cabinets a bit, since I have 80cm Ikea base cabinets. The countertop of the kitchen island will also have to come off again.

An 80cm cooktop would probably be the better choice, but with the corresponding criteria (5 zones, ~11kW) they are too expensive for me.

Before you cut out the carcasses, first check whether the new board does not collide with drawers or anything else.

Why does the countertop have to come off? Although I don’t know your installation situation exactly, the extension can also be done with suitable tools without removing the countertop. A few weeks ago, we cut out the carcass without removing the countertop.

I searched for a long time over the past months and ended up with Neff. Somehow also Bosch/Siemens but I find the TwistPad control great. For example, there is this 80 cm Neff T58BT20N0 hob online for a reasonable price. It just has ~7.5kW.

I have an 80cm from Neff and the lower kW is noticeable in 60 seconds, the three liters of pasta water take longer to reach the boiling point. Marginal. Searing still works up to charring.

If you cook a lot, 5 burners on a 60cm are very little, as pots and pans get in each other's way.

I would always recommend the 80cm - if the higher price has to be compensated by less power, the added value of more space is easily worth it!

I also have an 80s Neff with Twistpad and am super satisfied. What use is an 11 kW connection value if the cooktops constantly "cycle" due to lack of cooling: nothing. With Neff, at least it heats continuously, which brings much more.

Yes, I might also manage it with the multitool without dismantling the countertop. The cooktop requires 51mm height at 825 mm width. The countertop is 35mm. That means I have to modify the side walls of the adjacent cabinets a bit.
