I don't know Porta, the other two do have decent furniture. Of course, there are also cheap items, take-away furniture, etc. Otherwise, we have, for example, a local furniture store here that I would classify as somewhat higher quality than Höffner or Kraft. Hülsta, Stressless, Musterring, etc. - if there is something like that, then the quality is OK. For those who like solid wood furniture (we don't): Voglauer.
Putting kitchens aside: normal IKEA furniture is not really top quality either and can’t be compared to a proper furniture store.
It varies. In my opinion, the "proper" furniture stores have declined drastically. You really have to look specifically for the brands, 90% of the products are store brands. But who can blame them, they’re just chasing after Ikea and the cheap stores. Ikea also has a certain range. For example, the Hemnes dressers are utter rubbish. Besta and Pax feel different and are worth the money. I have Galant as office furniture and am very satisfied with it. Of course there are more professional options, but for the price ... (although a filing cabinet combination already costs 600-700€ – so a bit more for IKEA standards).
But I also have Hülsta (dining table and chairs as well as a large bed), as well as a dresser from the Danish bed store. Hülsta is really nice ... but just for the bed you could furnish a whole apartment at Ikea.
Now, apart from kitchens: even regular IKEA furniture isn’t exactly top quality and cannot be compared to a decent furniture store.
You have to realize that your statements are quite unsubstantial in their generality.
And before there’s a fruit salad: IKEA sells flat-pack furniture, so please don’t compare it to Rolf Benz or the like. Mömax is more of a comparable candidate. And there is worlds of difference between the two – in favor of IKEA.
Although by now I can’t really get along with IKEA either (except Besta, Malm and PAX [emoji6]), such sweeping statements and claims are simply nonsense.
We are here in a new construction house building forum. I really have to assume that Rolf Benz is an option here, Mömax rather not. Really, what is that supposed to mean?
And I also trust everyone here to distinguish the brand furniture from the store brands in a furniture store like Höffner. Yes, as mentioned, even in good furniture stores there is a lot of stuff nowadays. It's not even that bad, for a student apartment or a first apartment it's also okay. But if I move into a house that I want to live in for at least 30 years, then I invest once in good quality.
Even if I am repeating myself: A Blum hinge purchased at IKEA cannot be distinguished externally from another Blum hinge. The mounting is identical. You can clamp and/or screw the hinge cup. There may be a dedicated production site for IKEA. That this quality is worse is hearsay. There are a few relatively expensive, quite good real wood fronts. If you don't like those, IKEA is just as wrong for you as it is for someone who needs a different grid or has difficulty researching suitable [E-Geräte].
I don't like to see myself as an IKEA defender, but facts are facts.
