Any ideas for redesigning the staircase?

We can only have this staircase in our new build with a lighter wood covering, so personally I would be very happy with your staircase in a purchased house, because there you would basically just have to insert white risers and replace the spindles with wooden ones :) But since you mentioned something about glass and Bauhaus, I'm afraid you would either have to save longer to tear the whole thing out and replace it with what then suits your taste, or you leave it as it is and rather invest the money in other rooms. Because adding glass to this country house staircase looks terrible and will look greasy in no time even without small children, unless you clean out of passion :)

Although I find your staircase very beautiful. Better completely country house style than half and half. Maybe really an option for us.
