An alternative for once,
house for 2, living here for a year,
consistently on one level, barrier-free, view above the living area up to the roof, above the kitchen and entrance now a gallery with books, toys and a reading corner
Regards Nida

In a senior residence, you don’t have to shop for yourself. There are so many who kick the bucket spry at an old age. Others are struck young. This has hit our circle of friends hard.

got it pretty well. You have a lot of flexibility. A family of four or five on the same space doesn’t have that. Well-designed rooms, a cable here, an amplifier there, and you are prepared.
Many things initially cost nothing but brainpower.

To the guest room scene, a basic optimum (without my suggestion with the Jetztschon switch in the bedroom): The width of the room is not enough for a wardrobe at the foot of the bed. Bed under a window is also questionable. Bed with the headboard against the inner wall, so rotate 180 degrees. Wall between guest and bathroom with built-in wardrobe. Door to the bathroom rather on the window side. Then swap the shower with the washbasin side. This way the washbasin is on the window side, and the shower gets its entrance on the logical front side without disturbing toilet.

Sorry for the late feedback but I wanted to take a closer look. The swap of living room-ground floor with bedroom-upper floor is really interesting; TV with us rather away from living room. Air space above kitchen not so much liked. Guest+bath upstairs already mentioned several times, good idea. Side change staircase already considered, so far better when changing living room but vice versa, yes. Ground floor idea with sleeping downstairs is already in the thought process. Access from garage to utility room not necessarily needed. Possibly access to utility room anyway from hallway, then an extra door from utility room is redundant anyway. Fridge maybe seems inappropriate but for some reason we like/have it somewhat like that. I always had a large side-by-side fridge alone in the dining room and I always liked it that way. We'll see.... Sleeping together in ground-floor guest room?? Wow.....is thought differently. My two synapses are moving.....thank you very much for your effort and ideas.

Yes, an SbS can stand alone, but it should also have a connection to washing/cooking/preparing.

WZ across the entire width at the top could easily be divided into 2 areas ... more for TV and more for the relaxation area.

Why not place the gallery over cooking/eating? It could also be separated at the top with glass panels.
