I see similar things coming our way. Last time the internal framework was still standing, but he didn’t want that, saying it wouldn’t be a problem later. Today, however, he saw a problem bringing the ladder here......I’m betting on Friday! A chandelier like that is just classy, I like it, although we will still spend hours looking up to see how high it should hang. At your place, it hangs below or at the lower end of the parapet railing with a nice long rope. We haven’t agreed yet because my wife would like it a bit higher so that you can see it at eye level from above. But then it hangs too close to the beams with only 1m of rope length......let no one tell me we don’t have problems.

If the house is tightly insulated, 2kW heating power is surprisingly sufficient. Install the lamp at full length and test it with a tracer cable at different heights, we did that too, unfortunately I always had to go up

Ok, a lot has happened, mostly good after all the back-and-forth and unreliability. We found a small, local company that is fixing the construction defects of the general contractor somewhat and they are extremely reliable. The general contractor approves most of it because he finally wants to finish (money). Money is being wasted here without any plan on the scaffolding, multiple trips, etc. We last politely set a deadline for the electrician, which he himself proposed. After that, I would really get tough. The exterior will be finished this weekend, a terrible hectic person with claims to an expensive excavator fleet but reliable, fast, and good quality. Calculated in hours, he is insanely expensive, but he is incredibly fast and works like an animal. The total price fits and insofar it is okay for us, the main thing is that the front exterior is finished before winter. We like our facade idea at least , the craftsmen are rather reserved and haven’t built such an open wooden facade before. You can see the bearing points from the self-painters and we gave the craftsmen free rein on how to mix the various dimensions. We all found it funny and now we like it well, probably also because it is the self-found idea. In any case, three sides are sealed, tomorrow the backside will come with insulation and foil and in 2 weeks the big windows have to come out again because they are defective or the wrong color. In 2 weeks the chimney will be done, which is already standing here before us, carport posts were concreted today, it should stand before Christmas. Finally, something bulky can be stored dry. Because here again everything is unplanned, no one knows how to get there regarding scaffold parts and building materials, everyone complains.....it will end at some point.o_O. In two weeks we will be a little wiser again, our goal is to get through this drama properly and still have it as beautiful as possible. On Saturday the chandelier should finally hang as well, from then on the new life begins. As Loriot already said: There is also a life without a chandelier - but it is a pointless one...... I really like the simple clarity of your house. The interplay of the closed appearance with the bold large, closed, windowless surface on the entrance side combined with the very open and light-filled architecture of the living space over two floors is extremely successful. This way, you have excellently satisfied both the need for protection and privacy and the desire for light and connection to nature at the same time.

In hindsight, the house could have had windows, which would have looked arbitrary, but the arbitrariness (did recently post a photo somewhere?) would have been planned, so no windowsill the same or windows not directly above each other and not on any imagined line. The irony is that it would have also saved some trouble you had with your windows. I personally would also be happy to see some photos from the inside :)

The planning more or less evolved naturally from us. From experience, I knew about myself that I prefer more of a "wall" from the street, but at the same time also like huge window surfaces. Fortunately, no one wanted this plot, it was the last one there; maybe it’s simply due to the different lifestyle.
In particular, we like the plot more and more each day, with our sheep in front of the windows and the view into the greenery. At the front, there is a settlement, but with nice people; I don’t need to look out there anyway. Also, it faces north.
For this reason, the carport/parking space/work place/storage area found its place IN FRONT of the house, another boundary for the private area. Of course, we could already do many things differently, but once the annoying construction defects have been fixed, I think we will feel comfortable there.
Without being able to describe it so eloquently or even knowing it, it became like this for exactly these reasons; as the saying goes: from the gut, especially your own.

You’re right about the windows; this thing isn’t finished yet, supposedly a new attempt on 12/08 with big equipment... It’s actually, to put it mildly, a laughing stock what this so-called German quality work allows itself here; 4th attempt! We initially had windows in there, especially in the guest room, but it faces directly to the neighbor, and he would have had a “view” from above. In the end, we consistently placed the windows according to internal needs or privacy protection, and we were aware that from the outside, one might sometimes “expect” such windows somewhere. The guest room and guest bathroom could use a bit more light; maybe I would do it differently now, but on the other hand, it gives us maximum flexibility inside with furniture regarding future use.
Inside is already almost nice, currently the floor is covered again. Electrician is coming on Saturday... hopefully..., then the stove goes in, etc. I think in two weeks it will look better, maybe also with a few pictures then.
Certainly, a more skilled planner might have been helpful, but considering the overall situation and after some tours through new housing estates, we now feel quite comfortable with the look of our defective specimen. At the front on the tall wall, maybe a tall plant will go there; for example, I would also like a huge house number made of wood/steel or something... we’ll see, maybe someone has a nice idea.
We also wanted to do some things simply that way and therefore have to live with the risk of stepping into it, as I said, it is an overall result from an annoying backstory, Corona, time pressure, own misjudgments, etc., which is why the house turned out like this.
If I could live it backwards, I would know what I would do... only to probably end up at the same point again :D.
