The thing with the TV is true, but it is due to our (my) previous TV habits, because the TV has always been outside the living room. However, I will have a connection installed there between the dining and living room and the guest room. Currently, the fireplace is located in that area, but I am still not quite sure about it....
It’s funny. The extra space in the upper floor we previously had on the opposite side, that is left after the stairs, as a workspace or similar.
During the consolidation, we left it out because it wasn’t absolutely necessary and it would have covered the living room from above. But it is still possible and maybe even cozier if the gallery turns around the corner.
Where you drew it in, we already had it there, but it fell victim to shifting the bathroom/bedroom and because there were problems with the support of the concrete ceiling there. Nevertheless, we will definitely keep that in mind.
We have agreed that such details can still be adjusted.
It is always a back and forth between the view of the lake, the need and ownership of furniture, and not necessarily more space.

Originally, the design was different, namely the living room windows running continuously up to just under the eaves and without a lintel or beam, then laying the ceiling there would not have been possible or only with posts.
see below..... but then we would have needed huge roller shutters and would have had to divide them lengthwise.
It is still an option..... even if it may look a bit cathedral-like.

Thanks for the input.... we are on it.

Don't like it! Ground floor completely wasted space, therefore the first floor feels cramped! Works better for two people! Swap the utility room and guest toilet with the storage room upstairs, then you have a nice spacious living/dining area downstairs! For two people, you can design it nicely open and spacious and don't need such a narrow long room!

I don’t really like it either. Does the door from the kitchen to the utility room have to be there, wouldn’t access from the hallway be possible? Bedroom/closet area/bathroom feels cramped. Don’t you need a storage room or will the gallery then be filled with cabinets? Personally, I would also miss a study. Overall, a lot of space for 2 people, but the large gallery really restricts the rest. If sleeping on the ground floor should ever be necessary, the guest room is way too small. A wardrobe still has to fit in. It can definitely be done better!

I basically like it, but for two people it would simply be too big. I would probably put much more emphasis on the lake view and arrange the layout completely differently (kitchen and dining upstairs, living room downstairs), but as I said, basically I like it like this too.

I already like the long rectangular house.

How do you want to support the roof? Supports in the staircase area?

To get to the bedroom, do you always have to go around the staircase?

The door to the utility room could be integrated into the kitchen front. Take a look at

I would actually extend the kitchen even more into the utility room area. In other words, create niches. That is good for such a long, narrow room and visually expands it.

If the guest room is upstairs, the bathroom with toilet should also be upstairs. But then the option to use the current guest room as a bedroom would no longer exist.
Unfortunately, the gallery is insufficiently labeled, sorry. Currently, to the left next to the stairs is an open space above the dining room + living room, and to the right after the stairs there is first space for a lounge chair with mobile furniture and then in the sleeping area a large lounge/seating area for the TV area.
I understand, having more space downstairs would also be nice, especially since we are used to space. On the other hand, we also want - as it is here - two separate areas for lounging and TV area, which could just as well be downstairs.
We will reconsider the guest room.
If we swap utility room + WC and move the guest upstairs, then the area near the kitchen will be larger, or how do you mean that?

The door could also come from the hallway, we have already considered that. The reason so far was to use the utility room as a pantry as well and to enter directly from the kitchen. Plus the existing kitchen furniture.
Bedroom wardrobes are sufficient; the gallery should rather have a slaughterhouse character - no, nothing standing around, just the occasional nice light shelf or board where it fits.
We had reduced the workspace to save space and because we have it here but don’t use it. It is still in the back of our mind.
We probably have to reconsider whether we want to give less weight to the spaciousness of the gallery, although we actually like it. Downstairs we thought it would seem spacious because of the large glass surfaces and the open space itself.

Many thanks to you both for the input.
