Take a look at the house of .

Age is a tricky thing. You live there now and stairs are not a problem. Therefore, I would make more use of the lake view. Kitchen, dining upstairs or bathtub in front of a large window, etc. There are stairlifts. When that no longer helps, it’s basically time to sell the house.

The guest room and the bathroom downstairs are not suitable for living with a handicap.

Many thanks for your opinion.
We lived in South America for a while and had a special house by the lake with extremely high ceilings. That’s also where the desire for air upwards comes from (less is adequate for us here though). Also the tall glass fronts, unfortunately without shading there.
It’s not a bargain, although back then I built a fancy attic apartment for my parents and everyone told me I was crazy. I still maintain that most energy is lost through improper heating. I often have the heat off in winter myself, so I worry less about that and beauty does have its price.
The echo issue is a good point, although it already starts at the floor. A stone floor would probably fit better, but overall feeling-wise it will probably be something wooden again. Preferably my old, beloved wooden plank floor that looks better with every scratch, but then floor heating won’t work—though I could hardly care less. I like fancy, tall radiators; we always had them painted at the car company.
Surely we need to do something with wall decoration, but I will definitely look into that. It’s also the case that we are two quiet people and I am often alone at home or traveling while my 51% voting share works outside.

Reduction of possessions... the magic word, I love it! I always make it clear that I prefer a slaughterhouse character, having nothing standing around and getting upset about overcrowded drawers. I like empty cabinets. No, this part is tried and tested, welcome to the club! After some turns in life plus stays abroad, one should have understood that. I understand exactly what you mean; we have very few but fancy things.
The tip about the utility room/wardrobe was noted, as well as windows; we will look at those later. Regarding the exterior appearance, we have partly detached ourselves. My unfortunately distant friend was an interior designer and explained to me the frequent disputes between architects and interior designers. He also tends to favor interior functionality at the expense of the exterior.

Bathing and lake view is naturally a topic, which is why we are also building the upper floor. I myself advocated for the bedroom in the north due to heat. Now there will probably be air conditioning so maybe having it the other way around would have been the better option.
With this topic of bedroom/bathroom/access we’ve already gone through several attempts and probably not the last; also with the interior balcony on this side or opposite.
I really like the stairs to the garden; the standing balcony will definitely be approved as a precaution, the stairs would fit there as well.
A gallery will be added, no question!
Many thanks for your effort and anytime again if something flashes up—

That's exactly what I mean! Guest room with bathroom upstairs. As wrote, there is assistance for elderly people, and when that no longer helps, it's time. You are two and could use the room downstairs so well! Our all-purpose room is 86m2 and it is a dream! Especially when you are only two like us, you should definitely use the room! The gallery of that size is nice but wasted space! Just my 2 cents!

Thank you; the thing about living NOW is clear, otherwise we wouldn’t be doing this anymore. The thing about the lake view had thrown our entire bungalow concept out of the window until we eventually realized that we shouldn’t subordinate everything or too much to the lake view. It’s like on the tourist bus at AIDA with 50 seats in the front row. I understand what you mean and one probably tries to find the jack of all trades. Privacy despite or for visitors, at least somewhat age- but not disabled-friendly, simple paths and yet stylish living. I always want the kitchen to have direct access outside even if I forgo the lake view. I’m a poor advisor on bathtubs, I’m passing it on-. The good but also hindering thing is that we recently designed and got used to a huge condo on the upper floor here ourselves; so we know where we are comfortable and what distances we like. What I miss despite a great roof terrace is the direct access to greenery and from kitchen, dining, living. With age we have various private experiences and still know nothing, because one often only thinks about physical limitations. Our idea also goes towards being able to separate the living room and use it as a bedroom if needed. So we have some flexible ideas in mind and yet you constantly run into other problems. Stairlift?? Why do I have staff? Sell? Ok, then we’ll just build again. Many thanks to you!!!

Age...help...see above, keyword staff. I like large rooms, I will miss them but that also belongs to reduction. Not wandering through my rooms for hours anymore without meeting other people. Nonsense, I understand what you mean. At some point the cut has to happen, hopefully not at the wrong place. I thought building would be easier the 3rd time because you know so much about it...I dreamer- Many thanks to you!!!

The "wasted space" in our house may have cost some money if you calculate in €/sqm - but it gives us a satisfied smile every day. You can't invest money better. Go for it!

Tastes are so different! In the old house, we also had a gallery, but one has to ask how often do you use it and wouldn't the 30m2 be better used as space on the ground floor? I don't want to convert anyone, just give a thought, do I really need 30m2 of open space on the upper floor, how often do I use it if one partner is downstairs and the other is upstairs? Personally, I would prefer a differently designed room downstairs for common use.
