Of course, when building new, you plan that accordingly, even I do :D and planning standards or norms are indispensable, not least to help laypeople make fewer mistakes. I meant more details in fine tuning and design, where often a trend quickly becomes the "standard" and is regarded as the almost only conceivable option, for example when jointlessness, expensive stone countertops, expensive technology, etc. are practically elevated to the "standard," without which one might feel like they don't own a proper house.

So - yesterday in a night operation we assembled the first furniture from the guest room storage. The options were: go to sleep and wait or start a crazy night operation. It’s like with addicts or crooks, you see the other’s look and know what they mean. So we started at 11 p.m. to haul our two beloved Jori sofas around the place. No idea who put those cement bags inside but these sofas are insanely heavy, there should actually be a manufacturer’s note saying they are not suitable for moves. Crazy. So once again we built our roller tracks, one roller was basically crushed, and by 1 a.m. both sofas and the armchair were exactly in the planned place. Since then it feels like a home, even though the fireplace is still missing as well as the heating elements on the ground floor; so far an electrician’s blower does the job , although it’s not really cold inside; maybe the expensive insulation does work. Following my niece’s saying: We are now driving the craftsmen out! Today the workmanship hole good but timewise completely unreliable electrician showed up again, tomorrow the wooden facade on the front side starts, which we painted over the weekend. Somehow we were taken by the silvering glaze from the company Kreidezeit, also because you only have to paint it once, the matching sample piece had pleased us. We hadn’t thought about the fact that this product is practically nowhere in stock and that our rough-sawn wood requires many times the consumption values; quick as a flash 4 cans of that expensive stuff were empty but if you want a silvered house.......there wasn’t quite enough for gold. We are already curious about the look of the open wooden cladding, the craftsman didn’t know it and was (like us) a bit skeptical. For that I gave him free choice how to arrange the different board widths. :D The excavator is coming for the driveway and front stairs over the weekend......after that, the two large windows in the air space still have to be removed. Note: Despite repeated building experience, errors happen repeatedly, just different ones than before. With the multitude though, it’s easier to overlook them. Let’s see if we also have such an exciting night today......that’s how the meanings of some terms change in life and yet it feels good :D

Just left; he said he’ll come back Friday at 7:30 am. You see in him the friendly face of a family man and master craftsman..., his wife was even there and was standing next to him. It’s already unpleasant when you ask him if you can really rely on that (this time...) and he replies: "Yes, of course – we’ll be there Friday," and you wonder about yourself that you could doubt the words of this man.
As soon as he’s out the door, the "trembling" begins... will it be like the other 15 times, that despite the promise he doesn’t show up for another two weeks...
I always have to grin about the exaggerated image people abroad have of us "Germans" (whatever that may mean). They talk about German punctuality, precision, reliability, and I think of some of my South American friends who are absolutely reliable and yet look at Germany with wide eyes.
I’m a completely crazy optimist and therefore I’m looking forward to our newly purchased chandelier, which will shine on Friday, and I mean the Friday in four days. I already have the anticipation, the little remaining joy or the chandelier itself will come eventually.

Oh, he managed to fix the chandelier. Now the front door needs to be repaired because it was against his craftsman’s honor to accept help on the 4m ladder... but there’s always something
