It’s getting more concrete with us. At the beginning of the week, we have a shell construction inspection with our electrician. I’m happy to give you feedback when a layperson works with the electrician of the general contractor.
As a first step, I have selected the following components (tips from threads, YouTube, or shops) and ask the electrician to install these as preparation for my further work:
1. Network cabinet:
Either the HMF 65709 (unassembled) with 51 x 40 x 45cm with 9 U for 70 euros or the Digitus network cabinet "Dynamic Basic" with 45 x 60 x 50.5 cm with 9 U for 100 euros
2. Patch panel for keystone modules:
HB-Digital 24-port shielded patch panel for 24 euros
3. Power strip:
Brennenstuhl 8-way with surge protection for 32 euros
I ask the electrician to use Cat 7 cable or alternatively to procure this himself (he probably won’t want to).
Then he should install the cabinet in the technical room near the telecom entry, connect the keystones to the patch panel, and make a list which number belongs to which cable.
What do you say about the components? Are they basically okay or would you change something?
Did I forget something? I would get the switch and patch cables in a few months.
What kind of internet connection do you get? DSL, cable, fiber optic? Is the connection directly next to the network cabinet or somewhere else? Depending on that, you might need another cable there.
It will be DSL at first. Our municipality will complete the fiber optic expansion for every household these weeks, but that will probably be too early. The DSL cable must then go from the house connection to the Fritzbox in the network cabinet, right?
