By the way, you can save a lot on games if it doesn't always have to be the latest. When I used to game, I eventually got so frustrated with buggy and unfinished games at release that I only bought through Humble Bundles and Steam Sales. The game no longer costs 60€ but a maximum of 5€, already has 2 expansion packs, and is actually playable. Additionally, the required computers are also 2-3 years behind high-end and accordingly affordable ;)

The kids don't notice, since there is no physical game box to collect anymore ;)

Or they simply play along too.

Ultimately, it is like this. When I decide to do it, I know beforehand that payment obligations that were not previously present will permanently come upon me. Therefore, it is better to adjust to this from the very beginning and align my lifestyle accordingly. Saving or being more conscious about spending money can also be fun when you see your beautiful house in the background. Unfortunately, I only realized this very late and therefore paid a lot of tuition, not just financially.
When the wallet is empty, I can’t buy anything anymore; if it is constantly empty or if you always get nervous when using your EC card, it is no fun. You can prevent this through your own lifestyle.
It requires discipline... which unfortunately I did not have myself... and as mentioned above, you can allow yourself defined freedoms and plan ahead.
All this is possible without life necessarily being less fun.

So now, as a mostly silent reader, I’ll also add my two cents.

If I were you, I would strike before someone else snatches it away from you. Financially, it might be a bit tight at first. But if your wife goes back to work in the next few years, it can only get better. I think you probably won’t find a house like this cheaper ever again.

My wife and I also bought a similar house from 2004 last year for almost the same price in Ba-Wü. It was also sold privately from an inheritance. The price was really great and we were really lucky to get it. It was a total coincidence that we even found out about it. You can’t get luckier when you get such an offer. We also had to decide and submit an offer within a week. There were 5 or 6 other interested parties.

Financially, with about €5400 net income, we are very comfortable. However, still without children. When children come, money will be a bit tighter for a while, but it should work out. We also brought in about €110k in equity and therefore only took out a loan of €340k over 30 years.

So you had a completely different situation...

I still stick to my point: it is too tight.

In every other case, everyone would have advised against it because it is too expensive. Here suddenly a completely different tone. Why? Because it is the Munich surrounding area?
