Now I also believe that it was right. Nobody gives anything away. But a house without flaws basically doesn't really exist.

For , the decision was right; it was clear from the start that it would be tight without additional equity. However, in my opinion, there is no doubt that the house is a bargain. If nothing changes drastically in the income and equity situation in the coming years, this is probably the last chance for a detached single-family home in decent condition with a proper plot of land; you shouldn't fool yourself about that. The 'defects' are, in my opinion, irrelevant minor details; usually, you have to make much bigger compromises. Still, the decision was right; there simply wouldn't have been any breathing room. Knowing you got a bargain doesn't make you happy when everything else pinches and nags.

If the new Bugatti is on offer for 800k instead of 1 million, it is also a bargain. Still, I can't afford it. Yes, the comparison is a bit flawed because there is no shower in the car and the value tends to decrease. Sometimes you have to accept that it simply doesn't work. It's a pity. Still right.

Not only that. If he already doesn't like this bathroom, then he'll have to be very strong during future bathroom viewings in houses within his budget range...

Yes, I fear so too... But you first have to come to that realization. At the beginning of our search, we also dreamed of a 600sqm plot and 170sqm living space....

I agree with the others, right or wrong does not exist, it has to fit for you, and you have to bear the decision. Making a decision about 500k within a week, without being fully familiar with the subject, is crazy, therefore it was very good to ask here, communicate openly. Now you have some insight, can prepare yourselves, save up equity or put the matter on hold, who knows what time will bring.
