oh how nice, some soap in the evening, thanks. Maybe we could finally end this stupid "what can I work on in the car or not" discussion here? Thanks. And Ruppsn, we got that you don't like Ypg, that's enough, right. By the way, I don't find it arrogant - the nouveau riche might be a bit exaggerated. But the criticism of the savings rate is realistic. Either the OP has a wasteful lifestyle - that would also be fine, but if you want to build a house, you should limit it, both at least don't work together in the greater Munich area. Or he has other mandatory expenses - that is fine too, but then severely limits wealth building. By the way, also a necessary loan.

Approval of ypg and whether a couple with a combined 6.5 K net income can really be called NEW RICH is seriously questionable... honestly! They are certainly not poor, but NEW RICH??

Rich is the one who does not have to work. Now you know.

Such a bummer, now I still have to contradict my intention and respond to you – but first, it’s meant to be balancing.

Ok, that really didn’t come across that way to me at all, just like this:

… because from “What is criticized here, if at all, is your intended savings rate.” I read “What is (rightfully) criticized here, if at all…”. So sincere apologies if I was wrong to you on that point.

Ok, if that’s what you took from “And people who could afford it without risk themselves have to compete together with all the nouveau riche and the heirs on the free market for the few plots of land.” that’s understandable. I, for example, read an exclusion from “have to compete together with all the nouveau riche and the heirs”, because otherwise he would have to be nouveau riche and heir himself. I would have understood that part the way you did if it had said: “have to compete together with all the (other) nouveau riche and the heirs” But whatever, those are nuances which don’t matter much, since obviously we understood it totally differently and therefore probably misunderstood each other. I’d file that under “can happen”… agreed?

I can understand your conclusion based on the quoted wording, even if I don’t share it. I did not perceive the OP as a whining victim, but as very dissatisfied and disappointed about the deadlocked situation. Maybe I feel that way because I have been in the situation myself – and simply got lucky with my plot and was also close to despair…

I haven’t crossed that bridge yet, but I don’t have to In my view, the conclusion falls short, because he can’t actually do it, since the “nouveau riche” (to whom he doesn’t belong) have even more money and thus drive up sqm prices that even academics have trouble affording. But a few differing opinions are still allowed

Yes, there is some truth to that. I was born in the north, meaning I know quite a few from old circles of friends and family who have built or are building. It’s definitely more tense here in the south. As I said, I’ve been searching for 4 years, got a rather small plot with a lot of luck. Meanwhile my sister built in Salzhausen near Hamburg. No plot under 800 sqm in the new development area, purchase price under 100k… for that purchase price here (to exaggerate) I would have just gotten the driveway…

Well, then you have got something wrong. I don’t actually have a problem with Yvonne, I just found some (obviously misunderstood) statements not acceptable and I addressed that in a similarly direct way as she sometimes does. The nice thing about her is that she at least tries to understand the other opinion, something that many here in the forum don’t always succeed at, all the more something I appreciate about her.

I see it differently, because I don’t presume to criticize someone I don’t know and whose life circumstances I can’t judge. Regardless, I lack any motivation or reason why I should feel compelled to criticize him. He certainly doesn’t give me that by describing his difficult situation and, for the record, to complete the picture, informing about his financial situation. I could not perceive that he complained about earning too little money. But you seem to see it differently... well... so be it.

Regarding the savings rate: ypg is actually right. It is actually too low for the salary. From my feeling, ypg did not criticize that it has been so "lukewarm" so far, but rather made it clear that it would be good to increase it significantly in order to accumulate more equity and be freer in the choices.

But it doesn't really matter. I believe the OP more or less got the advice he wanted.
