Exactly! Unfortunately, you are now also starting to mix things up, which is a bit silly, so I'm out of here. Especially since you are now making assumptions. I have studied? I have 2k net income? I have a house? But in the end, you make everything right again, you rhetorical fox!

You can just download the current Stepstone salary report for fun.
There you can see quite clearly that for a graduate engineer with 5 years of professional experience, 3000 net/month = 63K€ gross/year (assuming tax class 1 or 4) can be an average, but in other industries/regions/smaller company sizes, the earnings for a graduate with 5 years can also be significantly lower.
We are not even talking about 4000 net = 90K€ gross per year yet.

: Just because you see many expensive cars and great houses and properties, all statistics, etc. are untrue?

... What a load of rubbish!

Wow, I didn’t know my thread would escalate like this.

We no longer feel average with our salary. Of course, you adapt your lifestyle, and instead of going to Jesolo once a year, you just take 3 or 4 (short) vacations and then also one long-distance trip per year, but otherwise we actually live quite frugally.

And yes, we also drive nice cars, but the luxury we allow ourselves today with vacations and cars, I would rather not give up because of a house. We will reduce, yes, but then in moderation.

That’s also why the financing rate is low.

And the reason why we haven’t saved much more yet is because we haven’t had such an income for long and because education or other things like the wedding were very expensive in recent years. Now the real saving basically just begins.

Wow, last month a headhunter wanted to recruit me for the largest German leasing company based in Bad Homburg.

When it came to salary expectations, he initially talked about 80,000 EUR gross (with 5 years of relevant professional experience), but when I openly told him that I only have this professional experience and, because of 2 children and building a house, an unfinished (but free of obligations) degree, he corrected it to 60 - 65,000 EUR.

When I kindly pointed out that the rent (or loan payment) for a comparable new building within a 20-minute radius of Bad Homburg costs at least 2,000 euros, he had no answer anymore and I politely declined. Let some other fool accept the offer. Even 80,000 EUR felt like a joke considering the real estate costs there.
