My first property I actually got with my ex-partner by going to the land registry office. We had discovered a property while walking that we liked. At the office, you are given the name and date of birth of the owner. Ex-father-in-law knew the owner. Approached, bought.

For the current property, my husband and I were at the urban development office. Same thing. Got many phone numbers, but had no luck. The property we have now we only got through a bidding process.

We sold my husband's house to someone who had dropped a little note in the mailbox...

You just have to be a bit imaginative as well.

When I look at your problems, the people who work at REWE seem to have played their cards smarter...

I won’t go into the commuting issue any further, you’ve said everything necessary from my point of view. I already wrote something about the topic further up, maybe it got overlooked. First, the bad news: yes, it CAN quite possibly be the case. If not, there are only a few options, even if I repeat myself: - Commission a dedicated real estate agent - Go to (new development) areas, look for building gaps, ask neighbors who owns the plot - Alternatively, instead of asking neighbors: find out the owner at the building authority/through a notary - Once the owner is found, approach them appropriately (we wrote a handwritten letter on decent paper and dropped it off) - Ask in local clubs, volunteer fire departments - Possibly look for plots with existing buildings, factor in demolition costs - Post “notices with tear-off phone numbers” at local supermarkets, bakeries - There are apparently also some very disrespectful people who go through obituaries – certainly a method I would never use Even if many things are not very promising, one thing is certain: the situation will not improve if you don’t do anything at all. Alternative: fundamentally rethink the situation. Does building really have to happen? Maybe rather - an apartment - existing property and (core) renovation - wait about 5 more years until the first follow-up financing fails As bitter as it is, using brute force is rather unlikely to work – unfortunately, unfortunately a lot of luck is needed... and I wish you that, because I know your situation all too well – only about 200 km north of you.

Well, I can only offer 20 years of professional life, but I can also share my view on commuting. Most of the time I have commuted and have mostly managed well so far.

It’s not all black and white. There is more to the topic than just distance.
My worst job so far was the nearest job. The atmosphere just didn’t fit and my supervisor was really awful.

Now, with 2 small children, I work 30 hours and have to drive 63 km one way and it still works very well. And despite construction. Would a job nearby be better? Sure, definitely. But I can’t find anything here that can compete with my current job. My area of responsibility is top, I earn more with 30 hours here than with 40 hours (thanks to IG Metall) and I’m totally flexible regarding working hours. If a child is sick, home office is possible. If I have appointments or a child has to leave earlier, I can and may leave earlier. Either I take time off or I work from home later.

Well, three days a month I always work longer and then my husband or mother-in-law covers.

Oh, and regarding distance, the route also matters. For the 63 km one way I need 35 minutes (my husband 45 minutes [emoji23]). The highway is free and can be used as desired. Other people have half the distance and need just as long.

But I must confess, a lot of traffic jams would stress me out as well.

And someone else would have a crisis. Everyone ticks differently.

I, I, I...
I wouldn’t say that I answered you.

Maybe read everything I write or keep silent!?! For example #59, what I say about commuting.

If you don’t need some people here like me or other opinions, then please stay offline!
You can gladly keep your opinion – gladly!
I am not arrogant – however, your lines toward me are full of hostility.
I ask you to block me from your view so you don’t have to read such nonsense from me. Otherwise, be silent!

I also commuted

I find it normal. I certainly did not enjoy the stress on the highway and in the big city, but I only realized that afterwards
