But I also don't understand the stress. You pay €650 / cold rent for a large 120 sqm apartment. In a pinch, three or four people can live there as well.

I think you are putting pressure on yourselves somewhere. Probably also the acquaintances who all own property.

At our bank, people already get strange looks if they don't own property. When I see all the Harakiri €650k financing, it makes me feel sick.

We also only have 120 sqm (of which 105 is pure living space) in ownership and live wonderfully with 4 people at a reasonable price (only €200k new construction left on the debt meter). The 105 sqm is also sometimes laughed at.

It is the pressure from people that makes one break out in stress. You want to be "mainstream."

I hadn’t read that space would be a problem. I also do not consider striving to be mainstream as a cause for wanting to build a house. For me, it is above all freedom. I don’t have to ask anyone or consider anyone when I want to drill a hole somewhere. It is a completely different feeling of life. But surely everyone sees it differently.

Why always this slightly condescending attitude of envy... "people want to be mainstream"... Maybe it's simply the desire for more space and more generous rooms? Maybe because it's great for the kids? Because celebrating in the right ambiance is even more fun? Etc...

You can also live on 60 sqm.. you might say that's too small for you... I feel the same way about 4 people in 105 sqm. Sure, it works, but more spacious is simply nicer.

In such income circles, it is just "uncool" not to own property. On the other hand, people complain that everything is overpriced. Why is it overpriced? Because the "mainstream" buys everything up and drives up the prices.

I know an expert like that too. Always drives as fast as possible on the highway, also says it’s no problem at all, but after every highway trip is always soaking wet and sweaty.

Grym, you are absolutely right as always. In such a troll community, everyone is big and tough, so you just sweat quickly.
