I was at an architect’s site today; he was recommended to me by acquaintances. He looked at our planning and was also bothered by the staircase in the granny flat (like everyone here – so no surprise). When I asked how this problem could be solved here, he had to think for a long time. Unfortunately, nothing came to him immediately until I gave him the tip that maybe the utility room could be housed in the garage (the garage is too small for 2 cars and maybe a little oversized for 1 car). He liked this idea. The parents' bedroom should be pushed further west (where the utility room is now), and the shower bathroom should be on the eastern wall of the parents' bedroom. This would increase the parents' living area to about 26m2 and the staircase could remain where it is. Furthermore, he suggested that the staircase in the main apartment could be reversed so that you would enter the 1st floor from the living room. This would have the advantage that the guest WC could be moved under the stairs, thereby gaining additional space for our kitchen. Could you follow me? Unfortunately, I don't have floor plan software and hope I described it somewhat understandably. I still have to clarify with the municipal utilities whether the technology can even be housed in a separate room in the garage.
