The problem with a cabinet door is that it is a cabinet door. The door to the pantry is one of the most frequently used doors. You constantly open and close it. While this hardly affects a real door, furniture starts to wear out faster. I would bet that after 6 to 7 years it starts to rattle, loosen, close poorly, etc.

You were initially only concerned about the passage. What do you think of my suggestion?

Keep in mind that behind the content as well as the choice of words in the warnings from most advisors, it is not sadism and envy speaking, but planning and building experience that is gladly passed on.
With drinks in PET bottles, you might manage with an 80 cm narrow pantry passage. Crates with glass bottles are maneuvered with greater forces and correspondingly less precise deflections, so order sturdy edge protectors for that.

Five months later, time for an update. Due to the construction site situation here in the area, our shell builder brought us forward and worked hard. The shell and the roof frame are up. And so far, we (and visitors) are thrilled! And it was one of the best decisions to paint the corridor between the garage and the house (see post 35). It looks super inviting seen from the street :) I am incredibly glad to have changed this. By the way, the staircase also worked well, even though we made a small change in consultation with the masons. Now, little will happen for the time being. Windows, rough installation of sanitary/heating are planned for September and I will gradually do the electrical work. We will use August to rest, and I will also start planning the photovoltaic system.

Attached are a few photos of the shell construction.
For me, it was very interesting to see how the plan is taking shape.
Fortunately, the rooms look just as I have always seen them in my mind's eye.
For the rest of the year, only heating/plumbing as well as electrical (rough) work and photovoltaic preparation are planned.
Possibly the plasterers/screeders will have time a bit earlier after all. But I’m not upset if things slow down for a while now ;-)
