A temporary example from me: From the TAE socket in the basement to the duplex socket in the living room to the FritzBox. From here back down to the switch via the 2nd port and distribute throughout the house so that the PCs are also fast on the network.

So for now there is WiFi everywhere and I can look up stuff on the tablet both on the 1st and 2nd floor. It doesn’t work with the FritzBox in the basement.

Someday, with more time, access points will come, but this way the pressure to act is off. Just for that, this one duplex socket was worth it.

Basically, I would plan so that I only need one central switch. For example, if you take MagentaTV from Telekom, then every switch must support IGMPv3. Then, in the living room, it is not the cheapest switch for €15, but one that costs a bit more. In a few years, you will surely have to place a switch somewhere else because you have a different requirement than you originally planned.

From my point of view, the whole thing depends on what the electrician charges for it. One only takes a small surcharge for the double socket because the additional effort is low. The other charges a princely amount.

We do the electrical installation ourselves and have also installed duplex outlets everywhere. Personally, it doesn’t make sense to me to install just one. The extra cost can be neglected. At least if you do it yourself.

Ground floor
Living room:
2x duplex outlets position A
2x duplex outlets position B (in case the TV is rearranged later)
They will remain flush-mounted for now.
Kitchen: 1x duplex
Office: 1x duplex position A
1x duplex position B
Hallway: 2 duplex cables for access point
(simplex would have been enough. We just bought duplex cables)
Under the terrace roof duplex cable (access point)
Garage: 1x duplex

Upper floor
Bedroom: 1x duplex
2x children’s rooms each with 2x duplex
Hallway: 1x duplex cable for access point
