Not necessarily.
You don’t always want to drive into the garage just because you need to quickly grab something in the house.
I also find it terrible that the streets or sidewalks are always parked up.
For example, where should a child park their first car?

Every year in November, our municipality issues a circular stating that if at least 3 meters of street width are not free, no winter service will be carried out.
In the settlement near our old apartment (second residence), the ambulance could not get through.
This happens when the street is used as a parking lot.

I already wrote that. However, I prefer the garage without a door into the house, so the gate can stay open during the day. For real parking use, the driveway needs to be longer than 5 meters.

Hello everyone,
as the better half of Milmay, I wanted to speak up as well
Thanks for the many suggestions. I have already incorporated some directly into the plan.
Specifically some points:
- I have expanded the narrow windows on the eastern facade (which faces the street) to 80cm.
- Shifted the dressing room window to the east
- Furnished the main rooms and partially adjusted the windows to the furniture

Here are some notes for better understanding:
- The living area according to the living space ordinance must not exceed 160m². Therefore, the attic is not inhabited. The floor area ratio is almost fully utilized with what is shown here, hence the idea of tucking in the garage.
- The western property boundary is already built with a 2m high gabion (noise protection). A semi-detached house stands to the north. The southern property boundary will remain free forever. A quiet street lies to the east.
- The double garage is a must. We do not need more parking spaces on the property, as parking is allowed throughout the street. The garage may be built on the northern boundary. (Subordinate construction in RLP) The garage may be 3m from the eastern property boundary since a tree pit is placed next to the driveway as traffic calming and traffic flow is not obstructed by a briefly stopping vehicle. We have approval for this from the building authority.
- The windows are placed one above the other where possible for reasons of symmetry (can also be done the other way around but does not have to be)
- The size of the dining room has been measured by us and is sufficient. The table will be oriented north-south and will be suitable for up to 12 people (see new plan)
- The living room does not require cabinets etc. We have enough storage space in the adjoining room under the generously sized staircase.
- The partition wall between living/dining room was created for structural reasons and could be shortened to 1.2m in height or removed if positively approved by the structural engineer.
- The space under the stairs in the hallway will be completely filled with drawers for shoes and bags. We have a good carpenter for this. The rest of the clothes should be stored in the utility room (HAR). Please note that there is a normal entrance door in the entrance area that will also be used. The dance floor in the hallway is to my partner’s credit J
- We could still swap the utility room (HAR) and the guest WC, but my wife prefers the window in the guest WC.
- The kitchen has 4.2 linear meters of countertop, a small table, a bench, 2.4m of tall cabinets, 60cm of countertop on both sides next to the stove, and a refrigerator. That is more than enough. The access from the kitchen to the unheated but locked room in the garage will be hidden behind a double kitchen cabinet door (see picture). However, I do not want to miss this connection. Especially in old age, I don’t want to carry the groceries from the garage through the whole house into the kitchen. Furthermore, it is a formidable cold storage room in winter.
- The corridors on the upper floors are sized like in our current apartment and are sufficient.
- The bathroom should have a separated area for special activities (staring at the phone), hence the partition wall. Cabinets and a double sink will easily fit here in just under 14m².
- I have standardized the furnishing of the children's rooms. In our youth, we had smaller rooms and did not perish miserably J
- The bedroom should be kept minimalist. I do not want cabinets/ dressers etc. here. The bed, each a bedside table, done. All the rest goes into the dressing room, which besides 5 linear meters of cabinets can also accommodate one or two small dressers.

Taste is a matter of much debate. Therefore, I ask for hints on errors or improvements. We will either incorporate constructive contributions directly into the planning or gladly discuss them with you. Therefore, my heartfelt thanks in advance. Destructive contributions or contributions without content will be ignored for simplicity.

If I manage the technology, I will post the current pictures of the rooms and facades, updated floor plans, and the SH3D project here immediately.

Regards
