I don't believe that. The forum here is probably more average. The "upper middle class" neither has the time nor the desire to chat here in the forum.

I also have many acquaintances with rather low company incomes (2500..3500) and they don't even get the idea to build new nowadays... Reasonable, I think.

There is, however, the regional difference. When I drive through our area, I see exactly two houses with roller shutters, retirees who have moved in from East Germany. I see a lot of brick, some plaster, a lot of wood, not a single city villa. When the flooring comes, there is the Knutzen truck. When the paving comes, Hagebau delivers it, mostly gray or anthracite, simple concrete. The typical fence consists of wooden posts, over which a rope is nailed that you can buy at the fish processing place, about 20 mm in diameter. The typical roof is red or anthracite and made of concrete. The driveways are gravel...etc. TV via satellite, instead of all the network stuff a WLAN box in the hallway, in short, everything very middle of the road and ordinary. So you don’t stand out at all if you do it similarly. Karsten

My direct neighbors, he is a nurse, she is a nurse. Why shouldn't such people build a house? On the corner, he checks truck drivers to see if they have paid toll, she I don't know. The two opposite, just retired, WL still on the car, but actually Hamburgers, not rich either, she is geared to mid 30s with color, dyeing and such... he is Dieter Bohlen for the coffee trip show... so people build here.

Still at the beginning, or just getting started, with a small medium-sized company from the region.

I think there is some truth to the statement that a certain clientele is also involved here. The majority of the buildings are erected by the few large catalog builders. The clientele looks in the catalog, adds another wall, samples materials in 2-3 days, and is satisfied. No discussion about building materials, KNX or healthy paint. Why would there be.
