The TE is, as I gather from the profile, from SH. If I can build in SH in 2017 for 285k all inclusive with land, connections, earthworks, landscaping, pipapo, he can do that in SH too. He wants to build bigger, ok, but he also wants to invest 200 into the pure house, not like my 163. Don’t let yourself be misled, it’s possible. It’s possible without ending up in corrugated iron.

Sorry, I said cheap! Not inferior!

And yes: I consider 200000 to be cheap - according to OP 130/140 sqm, without explanation one can assume turnkey (without painting and floor coverings).

We also built relatively cheaply - cheap Lower Saxony, but 3 years ago over 200000 with decent double glazing and clay roof tiles. Not necessary and would have blown the budget

That is also correct. However, many people cannot calculate this and therefore say that homeownership should serve as security for old age. Furthermore, they do not know alternative forms of investment for savings and do not acquire knowledge about these, but instead let their minds be influenced by what the mainstream thinks about it.

Nevertheless, as long as one does not argue purely financially, there are still plenty of reasons for homeownership. After all, who wants to make every life decision purely economically rational and then go to the grave rich and unfulfilled?

In the end, one must be clear about what one wants from life and for what one wants to prioritize spending money accordingly. And for those for whom individual living, loyalty to location, and freedom of decision enjoy high priority, owning property is a good choice.

I would first check how much the house including additional construction costs is allowed to cost - then you can see what you can afford.
200000 thrown into the forum room: Never ever a home for 3-4 people.

We are at 134/125m² KFW55 turnkey per general contractor <200,000 The problem in forums is always this: Showing off is more the rule than admitting that you can also go cheap. Therefore, the average forum price is always higher than the average market price.
