Do you really look at your walls that closely once you’re living in the house?
So far, we have completely plastered 2 rooms ourselves, puttyed and sanded twice, then wallpaper goes on. Both are children’s rooms, so themed wallpaper and the rest of the walls have fine-structured woodchip wallpaper, paint on top, in the end you don’t see anything anymore. And since moving in, I haven’t walked along a wall with a flashlight looking for unevenness.
I think it largely depends on personal preferences.
But I also talked myself into it beforehand or underestimated what Q2 means. We had the painter lightly sand it, then put textured fleece over it and painted it colorfully.
Depending on the intensity of the wallpaper’s texture, you see more or less imperfections. Some of the textured fleeces are a bit thinner, and I’ll put it this way: you don’t need a flashlight to see the unevenness there.
Everyone has to know beforehand if that bothers them or not. In hindsight, it bothers me more than I had imagined before.
