Hello dear forum members.

I have been a silent reader for a while and would now like to take the chance to pick up some tips and advice. We are currently planning our little house and would like to share our first drafts with you.

We are basically completely free in the planning and want a functional home for 4 people.
Important to us are a kitchen island, fireplace, and walk-in shower.

We would appreciate tips and suggestions since we have never planned or built a house before.

Thank you very much in advance.

We had already considered an alternative for the bathroom. If you mirror the staircase, the shower could extend into the hallway. I tried to illustrate it, but I am not very skilled at it.

The staircase is massively unfavorably placed there because it dictates the large hallway upstairs. I would move it further towards the top of the plan, possibly swapping it with the Gäste-WC. Upstairs, the 5m² Arbeitsrumpelkammer is very irritating. You will regret that, as it is hardly usable. For the hallway downstairs, I would already book dance lessons.

Hello SoL. Thank you for the quick response. Our bedroom is currently planned to be about 15 sqm. We were thinking of possibly adding a small lightweight partition wall there for a walk-in closet. The study is actually only intended to be used when needed, as spontaneous mobile working is possible for both of us and one could withdraw. However, it is indeed quite small. We haven't come up with alternatives (maybe integrate it into the bedroom after all). We would like to keep the children's rooms at around 13 sqm. The hallway and stair area with the bathrooms also worry us, but we don't know how we could really change much here. We really like the living/dining/kitchen area as it is...

How do you plan to furnish it, as in the draft with the dining table next to the sofa? With such a floor plan, I would expect the dining table to be placed in the free area at the top left. However, in this draft, that area is too small for a dining table.

We actually wanted to leave the dining table as it is. The area in front of the kitchen island is meant for the children to play while we cook, and we thought it would be nice to keep the space clear since we will probably use the walkway through the sliding terrace door to our terrace quite often.
