I would know that: if you don't like a connected island, then you also don't want a connected island in the new house. That wouldn't be anything for me either.

Hadn't read anything about "must not be docked." But as I said, freestanding works too.

You can put a stool in the generously sized utility room (HAR). Wet shoes are also better placed in the utility room; who wants to constantly trip over dirty shoes in the hallway... We have a fairly generous hallway, almost 12 m², and I’m a bit annoyed about that because it’s basically wasted space.

In a 145 m² house, you can’t design everything for peak events. Like everyone needing to get dressed in the hallway at the same time, everyone needing to use the toilet at the same time, and hosting a party with 25 guests in the living room...

What about the original floor plan: there the tall cabinets/fridge are integrated into the unit, so much fewer cabinet meters (countertop)?
