Share your wishes and also indicate right away if you want to split it into two or three steps. I don't know how it looks for you, but here you wouldn't get a garden landscaper for 2018 anymore. Smaller projects might possibly fit in occasionally.

The bag of chips is within reach, the beer is open – really entertaining here [emoji4] Fittingly, I catch myself while reading some price proposals here wondering if some landscapers might not have all their screws loose... [emoji6]

Seriously, put the costs of your shell construction including earthworks in relation to the prices for your garden. It’s probably in the same price range. Just comparing the technical complexity, the use of materials/equipment, I couldn’t justify either to myself or my wife even considering spending the same on the garden as on the shell construction – or at a rate of €1000/sqm as for the entire house. But sure, live and let live.

10% of the construction costs for a garden is nothing unusual. I have heard that several times now. But I just have to get concrete offers now.

And I cannot compare garden with garden. We, for example, want a swimming pool and such things; that is not available for free.

I can well understand that, especially I also really like the prioritization regarding free time and daughter. However, I would at least ask myself whether a 1000 sqm property is the optimal choice given the circumstances. No criticism, just something that came to my mind when I read six-day week, etc. [emoji6]

Why?

To be honest, a 700-800 sqm plot would have been perfect – definitely better than a shoebox where you can see what the neighbor is grilling or what topic is causing a marital quarrel again – I find that unacceptable!

But you can't carve out plots. After years of searching, we were happy to find such a plot somewhat off the actual target area. It is a bit too large, but better too large than too small.

But what does that have to do with a six-day workweek? Especially when you work a lot, a great private balance at home is important, where you can also see what you are doing it all for.

The approach is not that wrong after all. It’s always a question of what you count as part of it. Exterior facilities <--> garden.

But with a €200k garden, the cabin would then cost €2 million. ONLY THEN (!) would that actually be proportional again.
