Apparently not for some people, if you get called stupid because of it.

The heating engineer comes from the general contractor, I didn't choose one myself; the architect is also provided by the general contractor and I certainly didn't choose the most expensive or high-end provider but a solid provider whom I also trust not to go bankrupt before the house is finished. The other general contractor offers were all at a comparable level. Independent architects (simple & good) all indicated that they wouldn't be able to manage it with the budget.

I think €150,000 is quite a lot for someone who would have to work and save for it. You would have to save €500 every month for 25 years! Of course, if you have a few hundred thousand euros unused in your account, then I could also imagine spending that on the garden. So everything is relative. For most builders, that probably won’t be an option; most will probably just have their driveway and paths paved and take care of the planting themselves. How big are you planning your pool? GFK, polypropylene, concrete, styrofoam, or steel wall?
Best regards

I have to answer a bit more extensively.

A pool was always on our minds. But after the conversation with the first landscape gardener, where we learned that a (living) pool will not be available for under €70,000 altogether, we had basically given up on the idea and didn’t really delve deeply into the matter.

Only in yesterday’s conversation did the topic come up again, because a significantly more interesting price was offered. Alternatively, we also wanted to do something else with water in the garden, but a stream or something like that doesn’t fit with our Bauhaus style. The colleagues from the company Rheingrün said that the garden definitely needs a pool! Everything else causes costs but has a significantly lower benefit. With this idea in mind, we are now pregnant with the thought and still have to deal with it (including the points you mentioned). To be honest, I still have my doubts that a reasonable pool can be realized for this price. The planner talked about 4x8 meters and "liner."

We simply have to see. Last but not least, we are also discussing whether a pool is even such a good idea with small children from a safety perspective.

The children will probably get a trampoline sunk into the ground.

The economy is booming, if only one had such customers

What do you do when the children are too old for the trampoline? Seriously, the idea has something to it, but maybe in 5 years you'll be glad if the thing can disappear again.

Set a hot tub into the existing hole.
Sunken trampolines in the ground are seen more often here. They look nicer and possibly safer.

A garden for the family means to me, door open, children can go outside without mom or dad immediately running after them.

Gardens are partly subject to trends. Especially when, like you, you have a garden landscaper design a proper one.
Now a family garden and later redesign the garden.

The garden landscaper earns nothing from only above-ground trampolines, sandboxes, swings, and slides, but from the pool, yes.

Another consideration. You only have Sunday to spend time with your daughter, when do you want to use your own pool?
