Prioritizing horticulture. Do you want to have the entire garden planned?

He has everything covered with slabs, gravel, etc. - I haven't seen any greenery there so far. But I also haven't been in the back area. A small bonsai was still visible.

It must be quite elegant.

What one shouldn't forget either is how much a wire mesh fence costs.

Regarding excavator hours. They excavated for weeks!! So just for the garden!

Yes okay, but an excavator hour costs less than 100 euros all-inclusive. I mean a real excavator, not a mini one. That makes 16,000 euros for 4 weeks if it really works continuously. But then he has dug up the plot twice, built the pond at the neighbor’s, and drove to the bakery at noon with the excavator.

Presumably, a landscaping gardener who takes on "luxury projects" also gets a somewhat higher hourly wage - and labor costs are usually a real chunk. It doesn't matter anyway, there are simply enough people who easily have money for something like that and who don't care what it costs, as long as it looks the way they want it to. If I didn't have to watch the money, I would also invest significantly more in the garden than we can. For example, in a great wall with an iron grille on top. But as I already said, I prefer a somewhat different garden anyway - and a lot of it takes shape on its own over time. My luck

There are people like that in the neighborhood here too... I don’t know the amounts but easily in the six-figure range for the garden. There are then directly larger trees, practically finished hedges, walls and raised beds, elaborate terraces/water features... Not my price range, but I’m glad we have beautiful diverse gardens around us, and not people who take 5 years until they have decent outdoor areas... I often find that terrible about new development areas, when it takes years until it no longer looks like a construction site.

I also assumed finished hedges this time.

But I suspect that’s exactly what the neighbor meant, that at the beginning it just couldn’t go any further....

And a tree that only grows properly when I’m a grandpa isn’t much use either.

I don't think it's bad to also talk about the outdoor area. It's always "we'll do that later." Ah, just a few euros.

I don't consider 30,000 or 50,000 or 100,000 just a few euros that go by casually.

50,000 euros and the glossy pictures in mind don't match. Didn't we have to realize that when building the house too?

When you look at new builds, it often takes years before anything happens or there are lawns surrounded by 30 cm hedge plants. Some even manage a front garden. For me, that's a sign that the outdoor area is underestimated.
