Your grill should have a specification for the maximum gas it requires. Of course, you won’t have it turned up to 100% all the time, but it gives you an indication of how long the gas supply will last. Then choose between 5kg or 11kg. And as said before, always use two and operate them alternately.

I’ll put it this way: I have a separate cover from Weber grill for the “first grill” that cost 100€, and it still looks great despite years of rain, snow, and sun. Later I also bought a smoker (Smokey Mountain), which came with a Weber grill cover included. That one became brittle, cracked, and stiff very quickly. It still exists but doesn’t look nice.

Price-wise it’s basically the same. Whether you pay a 30€ deposit or purchase ownership for 30€ hardly matters. Choose a cylinder system that you can exchange locally. Some hardware stores only have red cylinders (rental system), others have brown ones (owned cylinders). I would avoid aluminum (expensive) and gimmicks like “BBQ Gas,” where the cylinder looks fancy but is extremely expensive and hardly exchangeable anywhere.

It happened to me exactly today, therefore always 1 x backup. I always take the red deposit cylinders. The grey ones you buy; supposedly you get them refilled better abroad, so the info. I prefer deposit because I might want to change the size at some point.

Who cares about abroad?
If I have a FW, then I have my own gas bottles there.
Always take standard. Never that “Special Barbecue Super Duper Gas” crap.
In the end, it’s all just propane.

Hello

and here we go:
Cover. They are available (I think, fitting for the grill) for 39 euros or for 119 euros. Some 99 euros.
I assume they are not of the same quality. My dad always said: "Son, we are too poor to buy cheap stuff." That sticks with you. But I don't want to throw money away either. Is there anyone knowledgeable in this matter here?

The expensive original covers are really very good. I have no doubt that they withstand years outside in sun, cold, rain, or snow.
