New grill needed - but which one to choose?

So our stainless steel grate from the Weber kettle grill really did not like scrubbing and didn’t get clean either. But maybe the remaining dirt on the cast iron is just not visible, and therefore I am rather satisfied with it - could be.

Well, I'm not sure if you can easily reach the necessary temperatures for cleaning out after grilling with a charcoal grill. From my feeling, I would say that this can't really be compared to using a stainless steel grate on a gas grill...

I agree – to burn off residue, you need heat, then all the stickiness turns to ash. I do have cast iron as well, but why shouldn't it work exactly the same with stainless steel.

At first, I always burned off and oiled the grill after grilling. Today, I leave the grill as it is and only oil a little afterward. Burn off before grilling so I can use the temperature right away.

I suspect it is as you say, you can't see the residues on the dark cast. It's just my personal experience. After a few years, the enamel flakes off and then, at the latest, the rust comes, which eventually eats away at the things. In the end, however, if you get into it, it's a matter of faith. There are pros and cons on both sides.

I also always do it afterward, then brush off and spray with release spray. It annoys me a bit because I usually have to get up again during the meal for that.
Any disadvantages if I just leave it until next time? I would prefer that too, especially since it doesn’t waste gas unnecessarily...

No, I have been doing that for years - it even stayed like that over the winter. No problems.
