Well, I find the Nordlys entertaining. And you surely don’t have to weigh every word on a gold scale.
Roller shutters - definitely a good thing at my mother-in-law’s, at least on the south side. The sun really blasts in there, plus she has large windows (built at the end of the 60s). We don’t have any. Don’t need them either, since it’s a half-timbered house with 80x60 windows; if it gets too hot, we air out in the evening or turn on the ceiling fan in the bedroom (unfortunately on the south side). And eventually, we want to reinstall the shutters that are waiting to be refurbished in the attic. (Are there actually still new buildings with shutters?)
I find it a bit of a shame with all the new houses that they have floor-to-ceiling windows, but these are almost covered all day by the roller shutters. At the neighbors: in the morning the things go up at 7, then the sun comes and at 10 they’re down again. In the afternoon at 2 pm they briefly go up, at 4 pm back down. But it’s not really great to always look at those things from inside, is it?
