I can't believe it! It's summer, bright and light, and you seriously want to turn your house into a dark nuclear bunker? Blinds down, lights on. What are you even smoking down there? - In summer the sun is high here, a sensible roof overhang, maybe roll out an awning, and the large patio window is in the shade. The other south-facing windows: pleated blinds up, tilted open, let the wind in, a bit of draft in the house, and that's that. -- I honestly don't believe you about the shading thing. I suspect something deep in the subconscious behind the urge to use roller shutters: Catholic fear of sin. No one is allowed to see how "dark" it is with us... huhuuuhuh. We up here, however, regret nothing. (smile)
Wow - that North/South sting runs deep. Native Berliner or just vague world-weariness? Quite a bit of blood pressure for a civil servant.
