Switch for roller shutters on the window or on the door?

Hi,

Somfy also has pretty nice touch remote controls. For example, the Nina IO.
Although right now I'm pretty annoyed with Somfy, because I'm currently trying to pair the Nina IO with my system. But it doesn't work, it finds absolutely nothing.

Question to all Somfy users: Has anyone already put the Nina IO into operation and can tell me how to pair it?

I'm getting frustrated here!

Best regards,

Andreas

I don’t see a compelling "or" there: central via PLC and decentralized where you would have grabbed the belt before. Central with hardware toggle switches seems outdated to me and also leads to "large settlements" of switches on a wall.

This fear of too many switches is also such an intrinsic thing of this forum.

Roller shutters have the same function as light switches: light. So logically, to me, they belong exactly there too.

I do not see the effort for double or triple controls as justified. In contrast to the controlled residential ventilation, which saves me 30-50 minutes, I see the advantage of automated roller shutters at 2-5 seconds per roller shutter. Roller shutters are usually operated not more than once up and once down a day, and if the switches are at the door, it is basically like the light, on the way by.

You can technify everything multiple times over. Everything must also be maintained and renewed.

And remote controls are never where they should be, get lost or are regularly hidden by the children. At least this is the case with acquaintances of ours with somewhat older children, no toddlers anymore.

I would not find a socket battery nice either, but switches? Switches are not ugly.

There may be people whose reason for electric roller shutter motors is optical (elimination of the strap) or orthopedic in nature (avoidance of back pain). But for the majority, there is at least additionally the motive to be able to operate the things in a coordinated manner (or to deceive potential burglars about the absence of the residents). A central control allows "switches" (as command devices, not as energy flow decision makers) at multiple locations.

I want to be able to control shading/darkening from where the glare bothers me.

Time switches for each roller shutter individually even cost less than a central control via "small server". In individual cases, everyone has to know for themselves whether they are "the analog type".

Control via remote control or app is usually more cumbersome and takes longer than directly operating existing fixed switches. And if you always want to operate from where you are being blinded, then you always have to carry remotes or a tablet with you.

That is absolute overkill, but for some, this technologizing and automating is a hobby. That’s something different again. You don’t have to explain a hobby rationally. It doesn’t have to make sense.

And if your back isn’t strong enough to pull the strap and you’re not yet 80, the problems are quite different. You should urgently check your own fitness level.

Burglary-resistant windows help against burglars. Presence simulation, anti-lift protection, or roller shutters in general are not measures.

Timers also have problems. We initially wanted to have them too, companies would have installed them, but have given us numerous examples of when it doesn’t make sense.

Conclusion: You have the only house in the world that makes sense. Anyone who has it more modern and flexible is technology-addicted and pursues an irrational hobby. Amen.
