This is really a difficult topic, media consumption is changing. The thread is the best example, there are hundreds of alternatives to classic TV, usually paid or heavily advertising-supported or in a legal gray area. Until a clear market leader has emerged here, where you don’t have to make compromises and which really offers everything, I wouldn’t want to give up classic Sat TV. (or cable if available and affordable combined with very fast internet.
What bothers me, for example, right now are problems with 4K streaming via apps on TV devices... as soon as you don’t have the latest TV, the trouble starts. We must also not forget, internet expansion in Germany is a disaster in rural areas and under 50Mbit you can forget 4K streams. Sat TV (HD-Plus card assumed) also offers more and more 4K content, because this was doubted earlier in the thread. For example RTL UHD, where selected programs (Formula 1) are broadcast in 4K as a test.
You can skip Sat TV if
A) you have fast internet,
B) have subscribed to several paid streaming services like Netflix Prime etc.
C) use the latest devices and plan usable star wiring in the house
D) have finally said goodbye to classic TV-on-head-off-I-let-myself-be-entertained-with-anything. Not everyone is mentally at that point and we all get older and maybe change our consumption behavior step by step back to the classic, passive direction
My conclusion therefore: Sat TV will be installed
