Is a "Free TV" connection still worthwhile?

It works without wiring to the end devices. You can skip that, and that was the main idea of the thread.

We have neither cable nor satellite and also no corresponding wiring. Instead, we have plenty of network sockets. I could later distribute satellite via these if it should become necessary, which I don't believe.

No clear-thinking person needs the private channels. That's trash TV and nothing else. You can perfectly watch the public broadcasters via the apps that are installed today in Android TVs.

We have similar thoughts on the topic.

Currently, we watch very little FreeTV. I think we could really do without the private channels at the moment.

The alternative would be to omit the SAT wiring and instead invest generously in LAN. Nowadays, every internet provider offers an extensive TV program including public and private channels for a few euros more.

Netflix, YouTube, AmazonPrime, DAZN, etc. run independently for me. I stream those anyway on other devices.

This is currently related to my wife and me. If in a few years there are children in the house, it might look different, although when they are old enough in many years, they will probably think more internet-based than we do now.

Are "normal" LAN cables according to the current standard sufficient then, or will they already be outdated technology?

I believe that we wouldn’t have to do without anything even without SAT. If there are network outlets everywhere, all of that can be set up. However, similar to cable TV, one becomes dependent on the providers and cannot watch without additional costs – unlike with SAT.

I will look into it more closely over the weekend so that this does not end in dangerous half-knowledge. There are pros and cons, and in the end, cost/benefit must above all be right.
