Is a "Free TV" connection still worthwhile?

This is how it should be done. As far as possible, use copper and radio only for handheld devices.

This will definitely serve you well for the next 15-20 years.

Although I am now sitting on the terrace with a tablet, my TV etc. are connected with coax and Cat.

Costs are negligible. (e.g., our floor coverings were more expensive and we do not have marble, etc. now)

Benefits are great, no stuttering and everything available at any time, both linear television and all on demand.

Without monthly obligations.

TV bedroom and TV living room => LAN TV terrace via Amazon FireTV Stick => WLAN 5Ghz Everything runs without problems. However, we also have a Unifi access point on each floor (ground floor and upper floor) and in the cellar shaft to the terrace a Unifi AC-M – without the AC-M, the WLAN signal from the access point on the ground floor is reachable on the terrace in the 2.4 GHz range, better than in the 5 GHz range but rather poor, with the AC-M in direct proximity to the TV the WLAN signal is top

LAN vs Coax socket: One could also put a satellite dish on the roof, install a SAT>IP converter in the attic, and stream the TV signal over LAN to the individual rooms. The end devices there must be IPTV capable (if necessary with the help of a small raspberry PI). Everything has its advantages and disadvantages

Interesting discussion! For us, the position "Sat-Anschluss pauschal" should cost 2,500 EUR (net) - that's why we decided against it. The plan is via Internet, or possibly also DVB-T2, but later. Without a satellite dish, there is also no shadow on the photovoltaic modules.

Hi, for me there is no question that conventional antenna technology must go on the roof, although my almost adult children (18 and 21) have decided that LAN is enough for them. Now I am working on the detailed planning of my system and am about to create a new blog for which I would really appreciate advice. THANK YOU already ...
