Societies have always needed rules, values, and norms to enable a pleasant life.

These can be very simple things like not killing and not stealing.
It continues with not littering everywhere or, for example, not releasing gases into our atmosphere that will cause great problems for us and others in the future and severely restrict our freedom.

Egoism is not always acceptable.

Isn't that incomprehensible? It's not about egoism or not, but about Orwellian behavior police, already completely normal in China, societal, meaning party-conforming behavior equals a plus, etc. Example. My son is a scientist. He flies all over the place to Denver, London, Rome, etc. to give lectures, etc. We, my wife and I, drive 8000 km per year with a Twingo, heat with gas, fly little, and hike in the [Lüneburger Heide]. But for some here, the gas boiler becomes a fetish for saving the world.

Well, rather the air heat pumps, which are now going to save the world.

Everyone who heats with gas is disqualified and bashed here.

Even Smialbuddler distances himself from the gas heaters who "chose" it. Do we now have to apologize with "my general contractor was overwhelmed with the air heat pump"? I have given my reason. But for some here there are no weaknesses, everything is wonderful - except for the others who make mistakes ;)

also a second-class person...

I think it is good and also right in a forum that deals with building houses to also address the ecology of construction and operation. Existing buildings are of course a different topic. And why nordlys is now taking out his son and the Twingo, I don't really understand.

How high are the gas heating costs in a newly built house before and after the increase? From when would a conversion to another technology also be financially worthwhile?

Especially now with the price developments, I would think about it very carefully again.

Recently I went with my son to our favorite cafe in Dresden. There we were practically barked at because we were wearing masks when entering. We live in a free country, prescribing masks is against freedom rights. I replied to him that we are currently living our freedom 100% by wearing our masks completely voluntarily, to which he in turn responded that he would ban it if he had a say. He apparently meant that he would like to prescribe everyone what he considers freedom for himself, so a totalitarian freedom. "Bashing" or ranting or lecturing others by pointing a finger does not lead to a conversation. Everyone should ask themselves when they last let themselves be convinced by something after being completely of a different opinion before.... (except by the best wife of all after seeing the rolling pin.....) The new widespread sport nowadays is also: knowing-it-all! Unfortunately, I experience really exciting discussions less and less, everyone immediately has 100 irrefutable reasons and calculations ready why their position is the one and only. Of course it mostly isn't, as one could know, and if I "bash" the other or put them down in another way I automatically raise myself a bit. A widespread but pathetic trick...... I would much rather be truly convinced factually in an open discussion. If someone barks at me, I lose the desire for it. Yes , bashing is absolute nonsense, because it mostly is not about the factual topic, but about knowing-it-all. That is true. Nevertheless, it already gets difficult at "not killing," provided one does not only have the Cain and Abel picture in mind. Self-defense (excess), abortion, euthanasia etc. There is no single cure-all regarding gases being blown into the air either, there are differentiated and each understandable positions on this area as well. Otherwise, one would have to say, having children is forbidden or rather the one-child policy from China, no driving cars at all, etc., because yes, everything somehow causes something to be blown into the air; then I must not take any of it for myself either. Ergo, it is also about differentiated decisions here that come closest to this goal AND!!! are socially acceptable. There is no right & wrong, it would be nice if it were that simple. With every heat pump owner or cyclist, I would find 100 points (with me the same) that would brand them as environmental sinners because they do these things out of pure convenience or unnecessary comfort gain for themselves. I was once in a relationship with a hardcore ecologist, I am healed from that. One’s own was always okay and was always wonderfully justified and relativized when crossed.......
