Just recently, after shopping, I walked past a very new heat pump (installed about 8 weeks ago, I watched the craftsman) and one about a year old. I heard the very new heat pump disturbingly, despite car traffic, from about 12 steps away, so about 6.5 meters; the older one from a year ago, without car traffic, from about 10 steps away. I don’t fly, I rarely eat meat and seldom drive a car, but I allow myself to be disturbed by this all-pervading hum-buzz noise. Senses may be developed differently in each person, so that someone is more visually impressed, for example by an extremely ugly tattoo, for me it is sounds, for another person taste.

Do you know how this compares price-wise to the "German way" with renewable electricity + heat pump? What does the heat kWh cost there in comparison? Preferably in production, since retail prices always include a large political component.
PS: Production costs for renewable electricity with heat pump are a bit under 2 cents per heat kWh. Retail price about 6-8 cents.
PSS: If we then also compare the costs to the gas price, we even stay on topic! ;-)

The topic was not the heat pump vs. gas boiler, but the price surge at Yvonne's supplier. A few ultras turned it into a gasbashing discussion, so that some gas boiler owners even started to justify themselves. Meanwhile, the gas boiler is a legal, common heating method, and the fact is, our boilers are here and they are not old, and it would also be ecological madness to scrap them now. Let Nord Stream run first, then the price issue will also relativize again. For now, I’m not worried about it. And the nice thing, at least about our Junkers boiler, is that it is completely trouble-free, quiet, and simplest to operate. Turn it on and done. That is also worth something. This sustainability craze is somewhat neurotic; a heater is not judged by whether it heats cheaply and well, but by whether it somehow saves the climate. But first, it’s supposed to heat, that’s why it’s a heater.

Well, it was primarily pointed out that A) the price increase cannot so far be attributed to environmental protection. B) When building a new property, you have the option to forego it. C) In existing buildings, it can be retrofitted. For many tenants, this is currently quite bad. For homeowners, rather not.

I’m looking forward to discussions with my neighbor again. Every time we enter cold periods and our pump constantly hums loudly, and he sits at home due to the darkness, he always asks, "Pump broken?" "Why so loud?" etc. etc.

In my opinion, these things are just a fig leaf for green politics anyway.
