Just checked:

21,000 kWh concluded in February (24 months fixed price): €12.90/month basic charge, 5.63 cents/kWh consumption price. €940.16/year

If I look at Verivox now,
I come to €8.06/month, 10.4 cents/kWh, total €2,280.80/year.

Completely insane.

It's no different with electricity, also concluded in February for 2,600 kWh, but unfortunately only for 12 months:

€13.90/month, 26.49 cents/kWh, €647.22/year

New on Verivox:

€13.90/month, 33.00 cents/kWh, €858.00/year

The current price surge has absolutely nothing to do with climate targets.

But yes, politically gas is dying, we have been preaching that here for years. It won’t go down any further.

Of course, it is due to the (partly artificial) scarcity. Putin wants to put Nord Stream 2 into operation, Lukashenko is threatening with a transit stop. In addition, energy suppliers, who miscalculated on the futures markets in the hope of falling prices against the background of still moderate increases in the first third of the year. In the meantime, the equity capital per MWh has quadrupled since the beginning of the year.
The "little bit of climate" hardly plays a role here.

Just a really stupid question. Why are you still with the basic supplier and haven't signed a proper contract with a fixed price? The fact that the price increase affects you is unfortunately due to your own stupidity/laziness and not the general price increase.

hm.. I agree with you.. somehow this hasn't been an issue for us so far.. but it probably should be.. unfortunately now is the wrong time for a price commitment, right?

Well, the price increase will come at the latest after the end of the price guarantee, regardless of the current or future supplier. Also, most price guarantee clauses only apply with restrictions, usually to factors over which the utility company has direct influence. Purchase prices usually do not count. This has little to do with stupidity/laziness.
