Don't believe it's possible because the threshold is too high

The question is: the house was originally planned with a 75cm knee wall. We went up to 1.15m. Do I then automatically get windows that are 40cm shorter? Sorry if the question is silly, I can't quite wrap my head around it yet...

Just read BeHaElJas' post: Yes, such a cross gable would probably be the more sensible solution. I'll bring that up at the appointment. I'm curious what that will mean in terms of cost....

My dormers have an opening for the windows with a height of 1m - window frame = 80cm glass height. I wouldn’t want it any smaller!

What I still don’t understand. Can’t the dormer be closed off at the exterior wall?? That’s how it is for me, and if you support the small piece of roof that remains in front of the dormer from the exterior wall, there would certainly be some room for improvement in terms of window height/window area. But of course, that then affects the house’s appearance again, and that’s something you have to consider.

€: Is it important that the knee wall is 1.15m and not 75cm?

At the exterior wall, I imagine it that way too. Yes, a high knee wall should definitely be there. There are a few other things connected to it as well. Among other things, also the height of the attic and a shower attached to the wall with a slope. I can attach a plan tomorrow.

If it is on the outer wall, it is called the [Zwerchgiebel], right?

The knee wall is only for visual and practical purposes, and the knee stud contains static elements?
(As far as I understand it)

Can you then plan the rooms where the dormers are supposed to be with or without the knee wall and the others as intended?

Well, not just the look - we currently also live with a high knee wall and even a loft bed fits under the sloping roof (with some distance). Besides, I can still influence the height of the attic with the knee wall height, which I also want to use as a retreat space.

I can't quite follow the idea of partially leaving out the knee wall right now, sorry. The rafters have to go somewhere. Maybe I just didn't understand it correctly.
