The only thing that would bother me is that the parents' area is directly adjacent to a child's room. Then I would also arrange the washbasin in a T shape, but otherwise I like it.

I don't find it very smooth either. These zigzag walls do not, in my opinion, (yet) create the effect of zoning but simply appear restless. The setback in the living room is also more of an act of desperation. Considering the terrace location, I would rather jump forward than back.

So basically, we feel like the structure of the living area on the ground floor somehow doesn’t quite fit yet. The kitchen is royally large, the space around the dining table is rather small, and the path at the back to the study past the couch could also seem tight. The circulation paths go all around the dining table on all sides. has already picked up the point correctly... Regarding the recess in the living room: so far we see it more as a projection in the kitchen/dining area :D We also see it more as a (necessary?!) cost driver to make the area around the dining table wider. As said, the kitchen does not need to be that big for us. We also take the island more as a room divider and not necessarily as a working surface.

In contrast, the upper floor seems very spacious in terms of room sizes. A dressing area in the bedroom is not important for us, and the master bathroom is now extremely large. A sauna really doesn’t have to be, especially when I look at rising construction costs. The bathroom as a trapped room directly next to the bedroom is not so nice for us; if anything, we would like to have at least a dressing area as a "buffer" in between. And in that case, I would find the way to the bathroom very long, only to find out that it is currently occupied :D The previous floor plan from the architect I find somehow better except for the too small size of the master bathroom; I just don’t really know why yet.

The attic is somehow not properly implemented in the planning. Yes, we plan there a backup office, a space for the controlled residential ventilation, and a children’s room, but there are still about 50m² of living space (roof slopes correctly calculated). We just have the feeling that with clever planning we can fit everything on 8x12m instead of 9x13m (probably the truth lies somewhere in between).

I don't know if I'm assessing this correctly, but the focus is probably on the TV. If it could, for example, be moved into the adjacent study, the living room could be designed completely differently and with more windows. Maybe also place the sofa against the wall, facing into the room. Is there a reason why there are so few windows in the living room? Do you already have living room furniture? Or do you know how it should be arranged? Currently, the living room is basically a passage room to the study, and the recess makes the living room unnecessarily narrow at this point. Regarding the location of the dining table and the tight space around it: maybe you plan the kitchen so that the dining table is, for example, right next to the island, then it would be much closer to the kitchen. We did that, for example. The table can be a bit longer so that enough people have space, and then it would also be positioned crosswise, meaning with the long side parallel to the window. Try drawing this on paper; for us, this decision created space in many areas. Depending on the type of use, I would not put a sliding door between the living room and study. If any door, then a normal, nice door. Beautiful sliding doors are expensive and, above all, are mostly left open; I would keep that as a maximum as an option in mind. Over time, you will notice how the room is used there and how it feels. Some habits and feelings cannot be precisely predicted; we have just realized this for ourselves again. But basically, this is a nice floor plan; now you just need to refine it a bit and incorporate your individual preferences.

If you don't really need the island in the kitchen, then I would create a nice L-shaped kitchen with a great table in the middle. Just like it used to be in old farmhouses, only without the farmhouse look (for those who don't like that). Then you sit in the kitchen, it's cozy, and there's space all around. Then some sort of separation with a half-height shelf or nice piece of furniture or wall panel to the living room. That way, there's quite a bit of space between the kitchen and living room, but I wouldn't find that too bad. And the space can be wonderfully greened with a room juggle. :)

honestly, TV is not important to us at all. In the evenings, just comfortably watching a series from the sofa, on weekends some kids' programs. We currently have a 55" device at a viewing distance of 3.8m, it doesn't need to be much bigger. If I calculate with 65" for the future, I'm at about 1.5m. We have the seating window facing south at the current corner, which on the one hand we see as a usable extension of the seating area when we have more guests, and on the other hand should also allow a nice view of the garden. We have living room furniture, but not a single piece costs even half a square meter of living space -> If it fits, great, if not, no problem.

I really like your idea of placing the dining table at the kitchen island. If we do that now, it only leads to walking straight into the table from the hallway or looking up into the hallway from the table. If anything, the kitchen and sofa area would probably have to be swapped (I have attached a floor plan from Baufritz that I think is great (Musterhaus Heimat), which depicts this situation except for the entrance from the "wrong" direction. Besides that: Baufritz really has some great floor plans - nice clear lines, very cozy, we often really like the style).

We've thought about that too, but we find it rather uncomfortable to be so enclosed by the kitchen.
