My opinion is the same. I like entrances that position themselves towards the resident or visitor ;)We agree in terms of optics that we find the front entrance nicer; you can design a small nice path with a front garden to the door. The side entrance, in the worst case still under a carport roof, always looks like a delivery entrance.
Yes. It does make sense to have the staircase run along with the roof. And a staircase next to/in front of the entrance is well thought out in terms of space. Everything else usually requires more square meters, which not everyone can or wants to afford. The typical houses are mostly like that (staircase start then at the entrance)… only the substitute villas or “being able to afford” a bigger house offer the possibility to have the staircase run straight with some distance to the door. We will come back to that, to minimize house size, when building has to be more considered because of construction costs and the energy crisis. And one topic that keeps bothering us: most floor plans have the entrance on the eaves side, with the advantage that you enter the house in the middle.
Because these are also very expensive and require even more space. I bet many who plan for a landing won’t implement it. My personal opinion here: it often (not always) has the charm of staircases in apartment buildings. What we often notice: landing staircases exist nowhere. Everywhere spiral or straight.
or not… when it comes to the landing… what the straight staircase can do: walk through smoothly without interruption, but fall the full length. as opposed to the landing: with interruption in walking flow, but then you fall only half as far. A normal spiral staircase, also double, has a normal walking flow… falling almost impossible.A heartfelt wish of some builders that is then implemented at all costs.
I would not say that in general. The average person often wants Pinterest, i.e., mainstream, at least relates to it and makes many mistakes. But many average people can not only look but also think and implement spatially. And that is where the planning wisely starts with the plot. For the average builder, I would always recommend to first create the floor plan and adapt the entrance to it.
