that means conversely,
dense houses with controlled residential ventilation,
or diffusion-open houses without controlled residential ventilation,

what is supposed to be a diffusion-open house? And when I think of diffusion, I think of water vapor, not air exchange. Only air exchange prevents mold. According to the Energy Saving Ordinance, however, your house must be built airtight, so that is out of the question.
The fact is: a well-built house does not need controlled residential ventilation if ventilated manually correctly. That is still true today. But the comfort, especially in winter, is enormous. And at night when I sleep, I cannot ventilate. Likewise, I cannot ventilate when I go on vacation or sit in the office. But even when I am at home, I do not want to constantly open windows, especially not in winter.
In summer, a controlled residential ventilation proves useless; I have already had that experience. But in Germany, we only have 3-4 months of summer. The rest of the year, I worship this simple machine.
