Hm....now I also see the thing with the fireplace. Since we have less room depth, we have an external chimney, which takes up less space. If there is a bit more room width, that already helps. Ultimately, you might have to set it up at home once and try it out. For us, that often helps, we have already moved boxes or furniture a thousand times to imagine it. Many things can only be reasonably assessed when you experience them live, because everyone feels differently. All the points mentioned have their justification, now you can find out what suits you :D. In any case, I have chosen the option to arrange something differently again. I would also be cautious with the "skylights" at that point, because in my opinion they can cause a basement feeling, depending on the situation. We therefore left them out or glazed them generously. Where the sofa is, in my opinion, you don’t need a window or it can be disturbing, the view there would be enough for me. Wouldn’t a gas fireplace be an option for you? If we had a gas connection, that definitely would have been my choice, there are great options. Maybe it also makes sense to break away from the usual suspects in kitchen layout and arrange them differently, basically as an open kitchen with dining table, then a half-height or light, visual separation to the living room, which can then be smaller.
