Guys, I’d be up for discussing parts of the floor plan. For example, on the upper floor we have the option to use a huuuge hallway as a flex room. My thoughts on that: you could, for example, put a couch there to read with/for the kids. It can be used as a shared play area. Later, maybe a small kitchenette with a coffee machine, fridge, or something similar could be placed there. What would you think about something like that? Is it worth having a large room generally available, or would you rather allocate it permanently to the kids’ rooms / study? I’m curious who made it this far into the post and what the opinions are!

For that, I have a low-maintenance specimen during the day. Tantrums, what is that

That is the main problem with this concept. Upstairs we would have a knee wall of about 95 cm, which anyway has a big impact on floor area vs. living area. Upstairs is planned: 3 approximately equally sized rooms (2 children's rooms, 1 office optionally as a 3rd children's room) 17-18 sqm a smaller office 12 sqm bathroom 12 sqm storage room 7 sqm second utility room 7 sqm the rest is hallway, stairs and open space for gallery

Assign it fixedly to the other rooms.
In the first years, playing usually takes place in the same room as the parents, and later everyone wants to close the door and have their peace. If you finally want to make a phone call quietly with your girlfriend, then better put the sofa in the study, close the door, and peace.
I find a small kitchenette practical. Bottles, coffee, hot water bottle, etc.

From my point of view, the problem is not that the individual wishes are questioned. Through these, some people may receive completely new impulses to adjust the floor plan. It only becomes problematic when these fundamental discussions completely overshadow the actual question. Due to unproductive criticism, the OP in the end does not even know whether he is on the right track with his floor plan or completely off track (technical feasibility too expensive/not possible, etc.). By the way, this also means that other forum members do not benefit from the thread, since at the end no one knows what was actually adjusted or why which floor plan failed. On the other hand, if detailed questions are asked in advance to precisely avoid going off track, one is confronted with counter-questions that again are not in the interest of the matter. Some even go a step further and immediately demand the entire floor plan, since such questions could not be answered generally otherwise. This "culture" creates the impression that from an objective point of view, a "perfect" floor plan can be created WITHOUT compromises. If not, it must be an absolute misplanning. I believe the reality looks different, since certain factors, e.g. budget, plot proportions, etc., will always lead to compromises here and there. The question is only to what extent these problem areas can be reduced through the support of the forum.

Putting the child discussion aside. I would distribute the rooms evenly. Upstairs room, downstairs it is lacking. Even if it might be called parents upstairs.
